Who wants to be stuck in bed when everyone else is out having the time of their life?

No one! That’s who.

Let’s face it – you’re busy, I’m busy, we’re all up to our eyeballs in busy. We’re all also guilty of purposefully ignoring what’s important for our holistic wellbeing in order to finish that little bit of extra work obliterating our door.

Does this sound familiar?

1. Your boss wants that job you received today on her desk yesterday,

2. Your very sweet primary schooler is gently reminding you about that project that you promised you’d help with and how it’s due tomorrow. Uh-oh.

Whatever your next challenge is, taking care of yourself through some me time has now dropped a notch or two on your Must-Do list this week and you’re pushing it back another week.

For the umpteenth time.

Why am I being so tough?

Because you, I, we all need a reality check. None of that stuff is going to get done if you’re tied up in bed sick, sore and just plain tired.

What I do want to do is get you back on track of keeping that promise you made with yourself and your health easily, quickly, and best of all naturally.

Want to know more? Let’s go!

Is the Flu getting worse every time it comes around or is it just me?

Like all of us (hopefully!), viruses are becoming savvier with experience. Though the flu vaccination is an alluring solution, many are apprehensive that immunisations may assist with strengthening bacterial defence systems making it a tougher battle for our good old antibodies. There is no scientific proof that this does occur however.

Ancient, natural alternatives to coping with, and often preventing viruses are making a comeback for good reason. These natural fixes have few (and in many instances) no side effects, making the daily uses of them an easy decision. Another added benefit to this impressive power shot is the amazing wholesome nutritional value a lot of these remedies contain which is leaving many of us scratching our heads while wondering why we didn’t do this sooner!

Turmeric

This is a great time to introduce you (if you haven’t been already) to the wonderful world of Turmeric. The many advantages of this spice are so miraculous, it’s no wonder it’s being heralded as one of the greatest things to have hit our natural shores.

Turmeric is so extraordinarily beneficial; it has been consumed and topically applied for centuries in India, particularly by Ayurvedic and Yoga experts so you’re going to be hard pressed finding a more stellar resume. Commonly adressed as one of Mother Nature’s phenomenal healing cures, Turmeric has a wide array of health benefits. Ongoing studies explain that it may be extremely beneficial in debilitating ailments including (but not limited to) cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis, diabetes, allergies and much more.

Now you’re convinced – here’s how you make Turmeric part of your everyday life …

Used as a potent anti-inflammatory option by the ancient Indian & Chinese civilisations, Turmeric is also known to assist with inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis, cystic fibrosis, as well as a possible preventative option for childhood inflicted leukaemia. It may also improve liver and cardiovascular functions while reducing cholesterol.

The spice is often used as a fine addition to curries, egg and vegetable rice due to its warm, mildly bitter and peppery flavoured taste and recently, science has suggested that cooking with Turmeric is when it is at its most beneficial so cook away!

But what if you’re not a curry person?

Don’t worry! Apart from the avalanche of Turmeric Chai Lattes you can find in most coffee and tea cafes, Yoga practitioners will often combine a teaspoon of turmeric in a glass of milk until it boils. Drink this twice a day (add some honey and pepper for better absorption of the spice) and keep arthritis and inflammation away for life.

Want a Bonus Tip – just for you?

Of course you do.

Have you ever cut yourself and been unable to stop the bleeding? Sprinkle some Turmeric on the open wound and watch the blood halt in its tracks as if just like magic.

Though you probably can’t wait to go and buy some Turmeric right now, make sure you speak with your medical practitioner before using Turmeric as it may interfere with some medications and medical conditions. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.

If you can, find an organic Turmeric (or even better – a Hand pounded Certified Organic version) to get the best nutrients and properties of this incredible spice the way Mother Nature always intended – minus all the negative effects of heat and cold processing.

Lemon Juice

Need some rescuing? Think Lemon Juice.

Mix the incredible benefits of Vitamin C and Honey first thing in the morning and you are set.

Not only is Lemon a great source of vitamin C, combined with the marvellous immune building and anti-oxidant components of Organic Honey, this magical powerhouse from Mother Nature has the flu and annoying pollen shaking in their menacing boots.

Combine the juice from half a freshly squeezed Organic Lemon with a teaspoon of Organic Honey in lukewarm water and drink first thing in the morning. This is a morning energy shot that packs a three way punch:

1. It’s great for weight loss,

2. It’s wonderful for your skin and,

3. It’ll solidify your immune system to a level that’s going to have seaweed green with envy.

Now you’re ready to kick some flu butt!

There it is – Simple, easy to do and quick alternatives to staying fit and healthy.

And best of all – Mother Nature’s doing much of the grunt work for you.
